Objectives & Goals
1. Financial: JASC received grant monies from the U.S. Japan Friendship Commission for three years to cover administrative costs. Since 1994, the Society has maintained its administrative staff through the income of membership dues and revenues from certain programs. Other programs are offered on a break-even basis where members pay to attend the event. JASC seeks program and operating support through corporate and foundation funding. Special programs will be offered as grant funds are received.
2. Administrative: JASC presently maintains a full-time Executive Director who, with the assistance of a contracted program coordinator and various committees, coordinates and schedule programs for members. In addition, members volunteer their time as needed.
The JASC’s goals are as follows:
A. To foster interaction among members through a quarterly newsletter and participatory events, which encourage dialogue between the Japanese and American communities;
B. To promote corporate and individual membership support;
C. To enhance JASC visibility in the community and throughout the state;
D. To enhance relations with educational institutions and other cultural entities in the area;
E. To assist with hospitality for Japanese visitors;
F. To provide a diverse series of programs which meet the varied needs of the membership and present a balance between business, cultural, and public-affairs interests;
G. To reach out to the Japanese American community in Colorado (Nisei, Sansei, etc.) and cooperate on projects and programs where possible.
