JASC Dragon Boat Team: Nichi-Bei-GO
About Nichi-Bei-GO
JASC sponsored a Dragon Boat team for the first time in 2018. Team Nichi-Bei-GO had such a great time that with overwhelming requests from the JASC community, we have continued to offer this program every year since! Our boat is made up of JASC members- both Japanese and non-Japanese. Prior paddling experience is not required or expected, but always welcome. (Our inaugural team was 90% novices!) We are a community team with a competitive spirit, but mainly focus on having a great time out on the water and learning to paddle as one. If you are looking for a Japan-related team to join, enjoy being in a boat, and are ready to smile and sweat, please join us! Our team does fill every season.
2024 Dragon Boat Season
JASC will host a Dragon Boat team again in 2024 to compete in the Hong Kong 400m race on Saturday, July 27th. The team expects to practice one day per week, beginning in late May until the race on July 27th. Our goal is simple … FUN! We hope to bring together both Japanese and American community members to paddle, socialize, and have a good time.

Step 5: Have fun at the race! We are competitive, but our focus is having fun and paddling as one!
Our main race is the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, on Saturday July 27, located on Sloans Lake. Plan to spend that day racing at the Dragon Boat Festival with your team!
We may paddle at the Riverdale Regatta in September at Mann-Nyholt Lake. This will be decided by team vote as we get into the summer.
Team Philosophy/ Code of Conduct: Nichi-Bei-GO represents the CO-Japan relationship and JASC with the following expectations:
Inclusive- we invite all JASC members to be a part of our team regardless of physical abilities or paddling experience - We’ll teach you! :)
Good sportsmanship - we expect respect, courtesy, and support towards our teammates and the greater Dragon Boat community. Anyone unable to comply will be removed from our team.
JASC Nichi-Bei-GO Sick Policy:
Participants that are not feeling well are asked to refrain from participating until they have recovered and can safely train again- we don’t want our entire team to be sick.
